Zinc is used for decorative purposes and for corrosion resistance. Clear chromates are RoHS compliant but the yellow chromates, sometimes call dichromate contain hexavalent Chrome and are not compliant. New formulations of top coats both with and without Chrome have been developed to increase corrosion resistance and still stay RoHS compliant.
